Yes, young people can learn Entrepreneurship: ThinkYoung along with the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies is organising the Entrepreneurship Summer School 2015 now in its 11th edition, where young people from all around the world have the opportunity to meet and challenge the most successful entrepreneurs. The School takes place on the 13th- 17th July, 2015 at Solvay Business School, Brussels, Belgium.

The Entrepreneurs that this year will inspire the students through their experience are Bart Volgers (Co-Founder of TOMTOM), David Ghysels (Founder of Hakuna Matata/ Events in the Sky), Olivier Hody(Deloitte Belastingconsulenten), Xavier Lempereur (Isosize), Pete Dodds and Tom Brooks (Founders of Mopp).

During the school, a session will be hosted at the European Parliament on the topic of 5G: Unlocking European Startup Potential, on Wednesday July 15th. The panel will include various MEPs such as Pablo Zalba Bidegain, Brando Benifei, Philippe de Backer, together with Tony Graziano from Huawei Technologies and Panos Tasiopoulos from the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies. The session aims to analyse what the effect of 5G innovation will be on the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Europe, allowing young people to raise their voices.

From the first Summer School in 2011 with 27 participants, the latest Brussels Summer School, 2014 held 120 participants, conveying remarkable growth through the years. The initiative has also expanded to Schools around the world, including Spain, Greece and India, spreading entrepreneurship around the world.

The last four years has been an incredible journey that left our team speechless says Andrea Gerosa, Chief Thinker at ThinkYoung Speechless about the growing passion of young people for entrepreneurship, speechless about the daily engagement of our partners and speechless about the worldwide expansion of our school. In 2015 we have schools for teenagers, the launch of our online courses, more than 200 scholarships for underprivileged kids and Taylor Swift as ambassador. We don’t know what the next four years will look like, but we are working harder and harder to fulfil our mission: create the first school without professor to inspire young people to be entrepreneurial”

We at the Martens Centre are proud to support projects of this kind Tomi Huhtanen, Director of the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies points out Private initiative and responsibility are not only attributes of successful entrepreneurs, but also core values of our political family. As the School welcomes aspiring entrepreneurs, we are happy to address, together with Think Young, the current youth employment challenges in Europe.

The Entrepreneurship School

The Entrepreneurship School takes origins from the belief that the most effective teachers and inspirers of entrepreneurship are actual entrepreneurs. The Schools mission has been to actively engage students in a hands-on and interactive school where students can develop their entrepreneurial skills. Participants are put into groups in order to be given a chance to create a business idea with people they have never met, giving them a taste of the entrepreneurial life.

The Entrepreneurship School aims to break the normal stereotype of schools by creating an informal and interactive environment. By presenting such entrepreneurs to young people, it provides them with the introduction they need to entrepreneurship. The participants are able to question the successful entrepreneurs on a range of different topics that include how they started their idea, how they are financed, what failures they experienced.
